Prepare for the Class E Knowledge Exam!
Class E driver’s license for those
under the age of 18.
The Florida Class E Knowledge Exam, also known as the Florida learner's permit test, consists of 50 multiple-choice questions based on the Florida Driver Handbook. Passing this exam is a prerequisite for obtaining a Florida learner's permit or driver's license. If you are under 18 years old and possess a valid Social Security number or alien ID number, you can opt to take the state exam online through our website instead of in-person at a driver license or tax collector's office. The online test is available 24/7, providing the convenience of taking it from any location with internet access.
To get started, you'll need to register by creating an account on our site and submit your payment using a debit or credit card. Once registered, you can decide whether you're ready to take the exam. It's important to have a parent or legal guardian present to supervise you during the test. When you feel fully prepared, you can begin the exam. You'll have 60 minutes to correctly answer 40 out of the 50 questions to pass.
Upon completion, your results will be immediately reported to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) and will be accessible for lookup at any driver license office. You are permitted up to three online attempts to pass the exam. If you do not achieve a passing score within these attempts, you will need to visit a driver license or tax collector's office to retake the test.

Live scan fingerprinting is the process of capturing fingerprints electronically with our advanced Live Scan device. With Live Scan fingerprinting, there is no ink or card. Your fingerprints are “rolled” across a glass plate and scanned. It is faster, cleaner, and more accurate than the old ink-and-roll method.
A percentage of the population has difficult-to-read fingerprints, which can be due to age or certain types of work such as construction or from prolonged exposure to various chemicals. Our state-of-the-art equipment and highly trained staff are able to maximize the quality of fingerprint images obtained, which reduces the likelihood of illegible fingerprints and will reduce the overall application processing time. The fingerprints are then submitted to the specific state agency to process.
